My Daughter Rides

Some dreams are born
While we are young
And never fulfilled,
They are passed on
To our offspring
And so my daughter rides
The horses I once dreamed of
And I watch in wonder as
She moves in harmony
With the creature of my dreams
The horse I so desired,
But, I am not jealous
Nor filled with regret
Her dream is now fulfilled,
And I am content.

  1. Kathi, your poem rings so true - we are happier for what our children achieve than we would be for ourselves I think. thank you for your kind and thoughtful comments on blogging. I think we all started out with excitement at the new outlet for our creativity, but then started wondering about its value. I \'m sure I'll continue for a while. Thanks again.

  2. To understand and share your child's passion for something is a wonderful bond. Your daughter rides, but you are right there with her. How beautiful!

  4. You can still hold on to your ideal about the horses. It´s always perfect in dreams, without the endless hours of taking care of the horse.
