We think of sunny summer,
but in Maine it’s endless blue,
with white clouds sailing
on a breath of wind
over silvery lakes
and shadowy ponds,
when winter seems a foolish thing
to think
about.

Beautiful photo, Kathie! I've visited Maine only a few times, but it's one of the lovliest places I know. I often thought that if I were ever banished from Arkansas, Maine is the place I'd want to be... at least in the summer time! LOL
ReplyDeleteI very much enjoyed your poem, also.
Lovely Sky Watch!
..ur sunny poem explores for me the hearts and minds of the writers of poetry and presents them in such a good light..for sharing this many thanks indeed..
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect match of words & pictures...thank you.
ReplyDeleteSome of my fondest memories are at my sisters lake in maine. Those were indeed sunny days! The folly we shared is imbedded with me. Thank you for reminding me!
ReplyDeleteI could just stare at that all day and i will not get bored.

A beautiful picture, and nice poem to accompany it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful capture, Kathie! I would love to have a lake house with such a beautiful view!
ReplyDeleteI love your poem and the photo! My sister & her husband are traveling in their RV in Maine right now … and I’m sure they’d LOVE this view. In my younger days, I’d have wanted to water-ski this glassy water, but I see no boats … so perhaps it’s not possible? Beautiful fluffy clouds with gorgeous patches of blue ;--)
ReplyDeleteFYI:
My Sky Watch is at Sacred Ruminations today ... and my two OSI Week 23: Folly posts can be found here and here.

Beautiful photograph and beautiful poem! Thank you for sharing. :-)
ReplyDeleteFoolish, indeed, Kathie. Maine summers are pure magic. What a great poem and photo. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely lake, we just pasted it last week on our way home from Rangeley.
ReplyDeleteYour are right, it is hard to think of the snowy cold of winter on a day like that.
oh how beautiful! Such a lovely shade of blue. Happy swf. :)
ReplyDeleteIs there a campground at this lake--cottages?
ReplyDeleteI think I know it!
Marvelous! I can't decide if I want to comment as my main blog for the photograph, or as my haiku blog for the OSI post. MyBellavia is one of my sisters, so what she said about the lake in Maine! The poetry is quite lovely! Perfect for a summers day in Maine!
ReplyDeleteI can really identify with this one as Maine borders on our province of New Brunswick. Endless summer days are forever, except when the leaves change colour and snow flurries start to fly. It is folly to waste this beautiful time to think of the changes awaiting us. This was a lovely read.
ReplyDeletei was out of town last week so I missed this one. Just beautiful. Indeed you speak true; winter does seem like a foolish notion.
